World Mission Offering
How Your Gift Makes A Difference:
When you give to GABC’s World Mission Offering, your generosity directly impacts missions around the world. These special gifts are used by our Missions Ministry to support GABC’s church planting partners, mission trips and local, national and international mission partners and projects, as well as provide significant support to these leading mission organizations:
Current Mission Opportunities
Provide Christmas gifts for children, special needs adults and senior citizens by selecting an “angel” in the Worship Foyer November 14-December 5. In addition to providing gifts, we can be intentional about sharing the truth of Jesus by also including an encouraging note and Bible or age-appropriate devotional.
Feed Our Friends
Help meet practical needs in our community by distributing food at our December Feed Our Friends event on Monday, December 20 from 9am to noon.
Help build beds for children in foster care on Wednesday, November 24 in the lower deck of the GABC parking garage. One-hour shifts are available from 5:30pm-8:30pm.
Laundry and Shower Trailer at Church Under a Bridge
Help minister to our homeless community by offering shower and laundry services alongside Church Under a Bridge on December 3 or December 17 in Downtown Tyler. Two-hour shifts are available from 8am-4pm. Email the Missions Office at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for a day and time slot.
Son Shine Lighthouse
Encourage the women and children living at Son Shine Lighthouse by providing holiday treats or helping with holiday-themed activities. Email the Missions Office at email@example.com to learn more about the many opportunities to serve at Son Shine Lighthouse.
Help us show our gratitude to our First Responders by taking Thanksgiving/ Christmas treats or gift baskets to our Police and Fire Stations and Sheriff’s Office. Contact the Missions Office at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for a location.
Josie’s Kitchen shares the love of Jesus in Belize by providing meals and sharing the gospel with the those in extreme poverty. They are in need of men’s pants and shorts sizes 30-32 to help clothe individuals with dignity as they encourage their spiritual growth. Donations can be dropped off at the Missions Office on weekdays or email email@example.com to coordinate a different drop-off time and location.
Encourage hard-working teachers by providing treats or lunch during the bustle of the holiday season. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about ways to serve our schools.
Widow Gift Bags Delivery
Join us on December 1 at 11:00am in the Worship Foyer to assemble gift bags for our GABC widows to remind them how much they’re loved this Christmas. You can also help by picking up bags to deliver beginning Sunday, December 5 in the Worship Foyer. Email email@example.com for more information.
Connect Groups on Mission
Missions happens through Connect Groups at Green Acres. Each Connect Group has a Mission Coordinator who leads his/her group’s mission efforts and coordinates quarterly service projects. A number of local mission opportunities along with some of our national and international partners are listed below so you can see how your group can connect with missions.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about the ways your group can serve.
Green Acres has a successful history of working with Dixie Elementary to encourage teachers and students through reading volunteers, Scripture-based teacher treats, staff lunches and a variety of other ways. We have other area schools in need of our support, and there are many ways a committed Connect Group can minister to the teachers, staff and students in our community.
Connect Groups can do a variety of service projects to help Hand Up Network encourage those needing a “hand up” in life, including helping in the thrift store and with disaster relief efforts. Mentors are also needed to walk alongside struggling individuals and families.
Build relationships with our local law enforcement officers, fire fighters and EMS professionals, and serve them through snacks/meals, prayer and encouragement.
Help Hope Haven love on girls in the foster care system, or minister to exploited women through Refuge of Light, For the Silent or Kainos Ministry (in Germany). Your Connect Group can write notes, make cards, help with Bible studies and meals, and engage with these girls and women in a variety of other ways.
Serve alongside GABC’s College Ministry at intentional outreach/evangelism events at UT Tyler and TJC.
Support outreach in the growing areas of South Tyler by serving at the many events hosted at the ROC and GABC’s South Campus, including VBS, Fall Festival and seasonal sporting events.
Help support outreach events at the Retreat Center on Lake Tyler by helping with maintenance/beautification projects to keep our facilities available for ministry.
GABC has helped plant a number of new churches across the U.S. These newer, and often small, congregations can use our help with the many community outreach events they plan throughout the year such as Easter egg hunts, VBS/summer camps and block parties.
