Get Involved In Missions
GABC’s Missions Ministry is asking each Connect Group to designate a Mission Coordinator for your group and choose one or more mission partners your group can pray for and/or serve throughout the year. We have a broad spectrum of mission partners for each group to consider and can talk with you and provide online resources about each of our partners. We also recognize that your group might already be engaged in or led towards an opportunity that we may not yet be familiar with, and we’d love to hear about those mission partnerships as well. There will be a designated Missions Committee member who will check in with the Mission Coordinator to offer encouragement, answer questions and talk through the group’s mission strategy. Below is more information about our vision and the role of the Mission Coordinator as well as contact information for our Missions Ministers should you have any questions.
As the Mission Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to lead your Connect Group’s mission efforts. This is a strategic role that will challenge your Connect Group to be on mission locally and globally. The Kingdom impact a Connect Group will have in our city and abroad is exciting. As your group prays about and determines a mission partnership, the Missions Ministry will be with you along the way.

Connect Groups on Mission
Missions happens through Connect Groups at Green Acres. Each Connect Group has a Mission Coordinator who leads his/her group’s mission efforts and coordinates quarterly service projects. A number of local mission opportunities along with some of our national and international partners are listed below so you can see how your group can connect with missions.
Green Acres has a successful history of working with Dixie Elementary to encourage teachers and students through reading volunteers, Scripture-based teacher treats, staff lunches and a variety of other ways. We have other area schools in need of our support, and there are many ways a committed Connect Group can minister to the teachers, staff and students in our community.
Connect Groups can do a variety of service projects to help Hand Up Network encourage those needing a “hand up” in life, including helping in the thrift store and with disaster relief efforts. Mentors are also needed to walk alongside struggling individuals and families.
Build relationships with our local law enforcement officers, fire fighters and EMS professionals, and serve them through snacks/meals, prayer and encouragement.
Help Hope Haven love on girls in the foster care system, or minister to exploited women through Refuge of Light, For the Silent or Kainos Ministry (in Germany). Your Connect Group can write notes, make cards, help with Bible studies and meals, and engage with these girls and women in a variety of other ways.
Serve alongside GABC’s College Ministry at intentional outreach/evangelism events at UT Tyler and TJC.
Support outreach in the growing areas of South Tyler by serving at the many events hosted at the ROC and GABC’s South Campus, including VBS, Fall Festival and seasonal sporting events.
Help support outreach events at the Retreat Center on Lake Tyler by helping with maintenance/beautification projects to keep our facilities available for ministry.
GABC has helped plant a number of new churches across the U.S. These newer, and often small, congregations can use our help with the many community outreach events they plan throughout the year such as Easter egg hunts, VBS/summer camps and block parties.
