Grace You Don’t Deserve | Tuesday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
Grace is one of the most difficult concepts to truly grasp. It’s getting something wonderful that you absolutely don’t deserve and could never earn. Jonah struggled with this reality when God asked him to offer grace to his enemies.

The Ninevites were brutal, violent people who had caused immense suffering to Israel. In Jonah’s mind, they deserved judgment, not mercy. But God’s grace doesn’t operate on our human system of fairness. It operates on love.

Perhaps you’ve been in Jonah’s position, struggling to extend grace to someone who has hurt you. Or maybe you’re on the receiving end, feeling like you’ve messed up too badly for God to forgive you. The truth is, none of us deserve God’s grace – that’s what makes it grace.

God’s grace reaches into the darkest corners of human rebellion and offers hope. It doesn’t matter how far you’ve run or how deep you’ve fallen. Grace meets you exactly where you are, not where you think you should be.

Today, receive the grace God offers you freely, and ask Him for the strength to extend that same undeserved kindness to others.

Bible Verse
‘For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.’ – Ephesians 2:8-9

Reflection Question
Who in your life do you struggle to extend grace to, and how might God be calling you to show them the same undeserved mercy He’s shown you?

Quote
Grace is getting something you don’t deserve and cannot earn.

Prayer
Father, thank You for Your amazing grace that saved me when I didn’t deserve it. Help me to extend that same grace to others, especially those who have hurt me.
