Trusting Without Understanding | Friday
Devotional
Some questions in life don’t have neat, tidy answers. As finite beings trying to understand an infinite God, we’ll always encounter mysteries that exceed our comprehension. The challenge isn’t to figure everything out, but to learn to trust God’s character even when His ways remain unclear.
When we demand complete understanding before we’ll trust God, we’re essentially making ourselves the judge of His actions. We’re saying our limited perspective should determine whether His decisions are acceptable. But this approach keeps us trapped in frustration and doubt.
True faith doesn’t require complete understanding—it requires confidence in God’s character. We can trust Him because He has proven His love through Christ, demonstrated His power through creation, and shown His faithfulness throughout history. Even when we can’t trace His hand, we can trust His heart.
The most mature response to life’s unanswered questions isn’t demanding explanations, but declaring trust. When we say “Father, we don’t understand Your ways, but we do trust You,” we’re choosing faith over fear, surrender over control.
This doesn’t mean we stop asking questions or expressing our struggles to God. It means we hold our questions with open hands, trusting that His love for us is greater than our need to understand. Today, choose trust over the demand for answers.
Bible Verse
‘The God of all flesh, is anything too hard for me?’ – Jeremiah 32:17
