When Hearts Resist the Light | Monday
Devotional
Have you ever wondered why two people can witness the same miracle and reach completely different conclusions? When Jesus cast out a demon, some believed while others accused Him of working through Satan. The evidence was identical, but their responses couldn’t have been more different. This reveals something profound about human nature: our hearts often determine what we’re willing to see. We filter truth through our preconceived notions, fears, and desires. The same miracle that brings one person to faith can cause another to harden their heart further. The issue isn’t usually a lack of evidence for God’s existence or love – it’s our resistance to what that evidence means for our lives. When we’re confronted with God’s truth, we have a choice: will we open our hearts to see clearly, or will we find ways to explain it away? Today, consider what might be clouding your spiritual vision. Are there areas where you’ve been resisting God’s clear leading because it would require change or surrender?
Bible Verse
“Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: ‘Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.'” – Luke 11:17
Reflection Question
What preconceived notions or fears might be preventing you from seeing God’s work clearly in your life?
Quote
The greatest barrier of faith is rarely the absence of evidence. It’s the resistance of the heart.
Prayer
Father, soften my heart to see Your truth clearly. Help me recognize when I’m resisting Your light because of my own fears or pride.
