The Greatest Gift | Thursday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
When we pray persistently, what are we really asking for? Jesus reveals that the ultimate answer to all our prayers isn’t a thing – it’s a Person. The greatest gift our Heavenly Father gives us is Himself through the Holy Spirit. This transforms our understanding of answered prayer. Sometimes we think prayer has “failed” when we don’t receive exactly what we requested. But God’s greatest desire is to give us something far better than our specific requests – He wants to give us Himself. When the Holy Spirit dwells within us, we have access to God’s presence, wisdom, comfort, and power every moment of every day. This is infinitely more valuable than any temporary blessing we might ask for. Prayer’s ultimate purpose isn’t to get things from God, but to receive God Himself more fully into our lives.

Bible Verse
“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” – Luke 11:13
