Love in Action | Tuesday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
We often think of love as a feeling – butterflies in our stomach, warm emotions, or deep affection. But true love is far more radical than our feelings. In the parable of the Good Samaritan, we see love demonstrated not through words or emotions, but through costly action.

The Samaritan didn’t just feel sorry for the wounded man. He stopped, used his own supplies, gave up his time, and committed his resources for ongoing care. He asked for nothing in return. This is what real love looks like – it’s willing to be inconvenienced, to sacrifice, and to give without expecting anything back.

This kind of love isn’t something we can manufacture through willpower or positive thinking. It flows from a heart that has been transformed by experiencing God’s love first. When we truly understand how Jesus laid down His life for us, we begin to see others through His eyes. We start looking for ways to serve rather than be served, to give rather than receive.

Love becomes a verb in our daily lives – in how we treat our spouse, care for our children, interact with difficult coworkers, and respond to those in need around us.

Bible Verse
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ – Leviticus 19:18

Reflection Question
How can you move beyond feeling love to actively demonstrating it in your relationships today?

Quote
Love is not about knowledge. Love is about action. Love is a verb that we act in, not something that we just soak in in our understanding.

Prayer
Lord, transform my understanding of love from mere emotion to sacrificial action. Show me practical ways to lay down my life for others today.
