Anchored in Eternity | Friday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
The foundation of unshakeable joy must be anchored in something that cannot be moved or taken away. When we try to build our happiness on temporary things – relationships,  achievements, possessions, or circumstances – we set ourselves up for disappointment and instability.

God’s plan for our salvation wasn’t an afterthought or emergency response to human failure.  Before the foundation of the world, before sin entered the garden, before the first tear was ever shed, God already had a plan for our redemption. The cross wasn’t plan B – it was always plan A. This means our security in Christ is absolutely certain and eternally established.

When hard things happen – and they will – we don’t lose our joy because our joy isn’t dependent on easy circumstances. It’s rooted in the unchanging reality of what Christ has accomplished for us. Our salvation, our identity as God’s children, and our eternal future with Him cannot be shaken by temporary troubles.

This is why some people can face incredible hardships with peace and even joy, while others fall apart over minor inconveniences. The difference isn’t in their circumstances but in where they’ve anchored their hearts. True joy comes from being secured in Christ for all eternity.

Bible Verse
‘All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.’ – Revelation 13:8

Reflection Question
What eternal truths about your relationship with Christ can you anchor your joy in, especially  during difficult seasons?

Quote
Eternal joy cannot be anchored in anything that is temporal. Anchor it in what Christ has done. Anchor it in what only God can accomplish in your life.

Prayer
Father, help me anchor my joy in eternal realities rather than temporary circumstances. Thank You that Your plan for my salvation was secure from the beginning of time.
