When Little Becomes Much | Wednesday
Devotional
Five loaves and two fish. That’s all they had to feed over 5,000 people. The disciples looked at their meager resources and saw only insufficiency. The math didn’t add up. The need was overwhelming, and their provision was laughably small.
But something beautiful happens when insufficient resources meet divine intervention. Jesus took what little they had—not much in human hands—and transformed it into abundant provision. Everyone ate until they were satisfied, with twelve baskets of leftovers.
This miracle reveals a profound truth about how God works. That which is insufficient in the hands of man becomes great provision in the hands of God. The disciples had to make a choice: hold onto their small lunch or surrender it to Jesus, trusting Him to do what they couldn’t.
Can you imagine the courage it must have taken for someone to say, ‘This is not enough, but everything I have, I give to you’? Yet that’s exactly what faith looks like—offering our insufficiency to God’s sufficiency.
Maybe you’re looking at your life right now and seeing only what you lack. Your resources seem too small, your abilities too limited, your influence too minimal. But here’s the beautiful truth: that which is insufficient in your hands is a provision of plenty in the hands of God.
God specializes in using the small, the weak, the insufficient. He doesn’t need your perfection; He needs your surrender.
Bible Verse
“When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, ‘Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?’ He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.” – Luke 9:10-17
Reflection Question
What ‘insufficient’ resource in your life do you need to surrender to God, trusting Him to multiply it for His purposes?
Quote
That which is insufficient in the hands of man becomes great provision in the hands of God.
Prayer
Jesus, I offer You my small loaves and fish—my limited resources, abilities, and influence. Take what seems insufficient and multiply it for Your glory. Help me trust in Your provision rather than my limitations. Amen.
