Equipped for the Mission | Tuesday
Devotional
When Jesus called His twelve disciples in Luke 9, He didn’t send them to seminary first. He didn’t require them to complete a training program or earn credentials. Instead, He gave them something far more powerful—His authority and power to heal the sick and proclaim the kingdom of God.
This reveals a profound truth: God’s calling comes with God’s equipping. The disciples weren’t chosen because they were the most educated or experienced. They were ordinary men—fishermen, tax collectors, everyday people. Yet Jesus saw in them what they couldn’t see in themselves: potential kingdom advancers.
The same is true for you today. If you are saved, then you have everything necessary to do what God is calling you to do. You have the Spirit of the living God indwelling you. This isn’t about your natural abilities, your education, or your past experiences. It’s about the supernatural power that resides within every believer.
Too often, we disqualify ourselves before God even has a chance to use us. We focus on our limitations rather than His limitless power working through us. But God’s track record shows He delights in using the unlikely, the untrained, and the unexpected. He uses the willing and the surrendered.
The power of the Spirit in you is fully sufficient for the mission Jesus has given you—completely sufficient. You don’t need to wait until you feel more prepared or more qualified. You already have access to the same power that raised Jesus from the dead.
Bible Verse
“When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” – Luke 9:1
Reflection Question
What lies have you believed about your qualifications for ministry, and how might recognizing the Spirit’s power within you change your perspective on what God can do through you?
