The Throne That Never Empties | Monday

Devotional

Have you ever felt like the ground beneath your feet was shifting? Maybe it was a job loss, a relationship ending, or watching leaders you trusted disappoint you. In those moments, we desperately need something solid to stand on. Isaiah experienced this when King Uzziah died after 52 years of rule. The throne that had provided stability for over five decades was suddenly empty. But in that moment of uncertainty, Isaiah received a vision that changed everything. He saw the Lord high and lifted up, sitting on His throne. While earthly kings come and go, God’s throne never empties. When your world feels unstable, remember that there is one King whose reign is eternal. He doesn’t face elections, impeachment, or term limits. His authority is absolute and His love for you is unwavering. Today, whatever uncertainty you’re facing, you can find peace knowing that the ultimate authority in the universe is not only all-powerful but also deeply committed to your good. Your circumstances may change, but your God never will.

Bible Verse
‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’ – Psalm 46:10

Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you looking to earthly authorities or circumstances for security instead of trusting in God’s eternal reign?

Quote
Inevitably, every major world leader right now, king, prince, president, prime minister, terrorist, call the roll, will have to abdicate their authority one way or another. But when all of the human rulers have moved off the scene, God will be where he has always been, sitting on his throne, reigning over heaven and earth.

Prayer
Lord, when my world feels uncertain and the foundations I’ve trusted begin to shake, help me remember that You are still on Your throne. Give me peace in knowing that Your reign is eternal and Your love for me never changes. Amen.
