The Voice That Commands Creation | Wednesday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
When Jesus finally woke up, He didn’t panic or scramble for a solution. He simply spoke. “Quiet! Be still!” And immediately, the wind stopped and the waves became perfectly calm. What took the disciples by complete surprise was actually quite natural for Jesus – after all, He was the one who spoke creation into existence in the first place.

The wind and waves recognized their Creator’s voice. They had heard it before at the foundation of the world. What seemed impossible to the disciples was simply Jesus exercising His rightful authority over what He had made. The same voice that said “Let there be light” now commanded the storm to cease.

This reveals something profound about Jesus that the disciples were just beginning to understand. He wasn’t just a good teacher or even a miracle worker – He was the Creator God in human flesh. The forces of nature that seemed so powerful and threatening to them were completely subject to His word.

In our own storms, we often look for complex solutions or worry about outcomes beyond our control. But Jesus reminds us that He has authority over every force that threatens us. The same voice that calmed the sea can speak peace into our chaos. The same power that stilled the storm can bring order to our confusion.

What situation in your life needs to hear the authoritative voice of Jesus today?

Bible Verse
“He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.” – Luke 8:24

Reflection Question
Because the wind and waves had heard his voice before. See, as the creator of all things, everything is under his command.

Quote
There is no such thing as a hidden follower of Jesus.

Prayer
