Peace Over Panic | Tuesday
Devotional
In a world filled with uncertainty, anxiety seems to be the default response to life’s challenges. We panic about our finances, our relationships, our future, our health. But here’s a profound truth: the gospel doesn’t leave its people in panic—it leaves them in peace.
When we find ourselves overwhelmed with worry, it’s often because we’ve taken too much of the gospel into our own hands instead of leaving it in the capable hands of Jesus. We start believing that our salvation, our security, and our future depend on our performance rather than His finished work.
Think about it—if the God of the universe loves you enough to send His Son to die for you, can you trust Him with today’s concerns? If He has secured your eternal future, can you believe He’ll handle your present circumstances? The same Jesus who conquered death is more than capable of handling whatever you’re facing right now.
Peace isn’t the absence of problems; it’s the presence of Jesus in the midst of them. When the light of the gospel truly illuminates our hearts, we see that our security doesn’t rest in our circumstances but in our Savior. We can rest knowing that the One who holds the universe together is holding us too.
Today, when anxiety tries to creep in, remember where your hope truly lies. Take those worries and place them back in Jesus’ hands where they belong. Let His peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind.
Bible Verse
“‘No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.'” – Luke 8:16
Reflection Question
What specific worries or fears are you trying to handle on your own instead of trusting them to Jesus?
Quote
Listen, the gospel does not leave its people in panic. It leaves them in peace. And if there is a panic within you, you have placed way too much of the gospel in your own hands rather than in the hands of Jesus.
Prayer
Jesus, forgive me for taking matters into my own hands that belong in Yours. Help me to trust You completely and experience the peace that comes from knowing You are in control. Replace my panic with Your perfect peace. Amen.
