Secure in Christ Despite Doubt | Friday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
The journey of faith isn’t about reaching a place where doubt never visits again. Rather, it’s about finding security in Christ that remains unshaken even when questions arise.

When Jesus responded to John’s doubt, He didn’t promise to remove all uncertainty from John’s mind or immediately release him from prison. Instead, He offered evidence of His identity and mission, inviting John to trust despite his circumstances.

This teaches us something profound about the nature of faith. Maturity in Christ isn’t measured by the absence of questions but by our willingness to trust God in the midst of them. The Christian life isn’t about achieving perfect understanding but about growing in relationship with the perfect Savior.

One of the most comforting truths about following Jesus is that our salvation and security don’t depend on our unwavering certainty. As the sermon reminds us: “When you give your life to Jesus and He saves you, what it does mean is that you are secure with him for all eternity. There will never be a moment of darkness. There will never be a moment of doubt. There will never be a moment of despair that you are not secure with Christ.”

Your doubts don’t threaten your standing with God. Your questions don’t diminish His love for you. Your uncertainty doesn’t weaken His grip on your life.

Today, whatever questions you’re wrestling with, whatever doubts cloud your mind, remember that you are held secure in Christ. Your relationship with Him isn’t based on perfect understanding but on His perfect love and faithfulness toward you.

Bible Verse
“Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give birth to the dead.” – Isaiah 26:19

Reflection Question
How might your approach to doubt change if you truly believed that your moments of uncertainty cannot separate you from God’s love or threaten your security in Christ?

Quote
When you give your life to Jesus and He saves you, what it does mean is that you are secure with him for all eternity. There will never be a moment of darkness. There will never be a moment of doubt. There will never be a moment of despair that you are not secure with Christ.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You that my security rests not in my perfect faith but in Your perfect faithfulness. When doubts arise, help me remember that nothing can separate me from Your love. Thank You that You hold me securely even when my grip on You feels weak. Give me courage to face my questions honestly, knowing that my relationship with You isn’t threatened by them. In Your name I pray, Amen.
