Returning to Shore | Friday
Devotional
Drifting happens gradually. No one sets out to distance themselves from God’s presence and blessing. It happens slowly, imperceptibly, as we forget to pay attention to the currents pulling us away from shore. The beautiful truth is that God is always calling us back. Like a lighthouse guiding ships to safe harbor, His Word and Spirit continually invite us to return to His presence. The shore of God’s blessing is where we find purpose, protection, and peace. Remembering is a powerful spiritual practice. When we intentionally recall what God has done for us, who He is, and what He promises, we resist the drift. We realign ourselves with His purposes. We anchor ourselves once again in dependence, hunger, joy, and eternal perspective. Today, God extends an invitation to examine where you might be drifting and to return to shore. His mission has never changed—to multiply the image of Christ across the globe, starting with transforming your heart. There is no joy like being exactly where God wants you to be, firmly anchored in His presence and purpose.
Bible Verse
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” – Luke 4:18
Reflection Question
What specific steps can you take today to return to the shore of God’s presence in areas where you’ve been drifting?
Quote
There is no joy drifting in the middle of the sea. But I’m telling you right now, there is a lot of joy in the shore of God’s presence.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your faithful love that always welcomes me back to shore. Forgive me for the ways I’ve drifted from Your presence and purposes. Help me recognize the currents that pull me away, and strengthen my resolve to stay anchored in You. I choose today to return to the joy of Your presence. Amen.
