Block Party

Volunteer Capacity: 15-20 each
Description: Host a block party for your neighborhood! Plan to provide things such as decorations, yard games, a staged area for family photos, candy to pass out, or coolers with beverages.

Breckenridge Village
Date: 10/30 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM
Volunteer Capacity: 50
Description: Breckenridge hosts a trunk or treat every year! Help host a trunk. Be ready to provide candy and games/decorations for your trunk!

Christian Women’s Job Corps
Date: 10/25

Description: Provide lunch for CWJC students and spend time encouraging them during their lunch break.

Disaster Relief – Homeless
Date: 10/25 at 8:00 AM
Volunteer Capacity: 25
Description: Help foster relationships and make disciples with the homeless community of Tyler, as well as the most marginalized and under-resourced families in our community. We will distribute hygiene packs, provide shower and laundry resources, and give out gospel tracts.
East Texas Food Bank - Volunteer Center
Date: Oct 25 – 8:30 to 11:30, Oct 27, 29, 30 – three shifts available (8:30 – 11:30 AM, 1:15 – 4:15 PM, and 5:15 – 8:15 PM)
Volunteer Capacity: 30 per shift
Description: In ETFB’s Tyler Volunteer Center, you’ll inspect, sort, and repackage food. Opportunities are also available in our Volunteer Center & Administration offices. After registering through the GABC website, please follow up by registering with East Texas Food Bank.
East Texas Food Bank - Resource Center
Date: Oct 27, 29, 30 – three shifts available
(8:00 – 11:00 AM, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, and 3:30 – 6:30 PM) October 31 – 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Volunteer Capacity: 12 per shift
Description: In ETFB’s Tyler Resource Center, volunteers will help neighbors shop, bag fresh produce, prep the pantry for shoppers, and possibly help with data entry. After registering through the GABC website, please follow up by registering with East Texas Food Bank.

Fostering Collective
Date: 10/29 or 10/30 anytime between 10 AM and 3 PM
Volunteer Capacity: 4
Description: Further the ministry by organizing and sorting their tangible needs closet that serves foster, adopt, and kinship families.

Habitat for Humanity
Date: 10/25
Volunteer Capacity: 15
Description: Help serve with the program “A Brush with Kindness”. ABWK assists low-income families in repairing and renovating their homes so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes. The focus is on assisting elderly, veteran families and those with limited mobility. Projects include painting, landscaping, carpentry, and repair services if the skillset allows.

Hangers of Hope

Volunteer Capacity: 10 (adults only)
Description: Various tasks at our thrift store (hanging clothes, sorting clothes, cleaning shelves, emptying clothing racks, etc)

The Hamptons Senior Living
Date: 10/30
Volunteer Capacity: FILLED
Description: Volunteers will guide people through a trunk or treat and help residents fill their bowls with candy. People are needed to lead group games and greet guests. Be ready to provide candy!

Hiway 80 Rescue Mission
Date: 10/25
Volunteer Capacity: 10 adults
Description: Volunteers are needed to help build fences at Triumph Village. Some experience is preferred but not required.

Hope Haven of East Texas
Date: 10/27, 10/28, 10/29, 10/30
Volunteer Capacity: 10 skilled men
Description: Help build 16 new twin beds for Hope Haven’s residential group foster home.

International Student Ministry
Date: 10/25
Volunteer Capacity: FILLED
Description: Pumpkin Carving with 15 international students. We need 2-6 volunteers to attend this event and mingle with the students/help carve pumpkins as well as 6 volunteers to gather supplies for the carving and goody bags.

Living Alternatives
Date: 10/25
Volunteer Capacity: FILLED
Description: Serve at the AXIA Center. The primary need is outdoor work like flower bed weeding/mulching/planting, potentially mowing, weed eating, hedge trimming. Several large trees need to be removed from recent storms. Cleaning and organizing inside the maternity home is also needed.

Miracle League
Date: 10/30
Volunteer Capacity: 30
Description: Miracle League is a baseball league and field created for players with cognitive or physical challenges. We need volunteers to work concessions and be a “buddy” for a player. A buddy runs alongside them, pushes their wheelchair and helps them in the outfield. Help us celebrate these players!

New Creation Foundation
Date: Any day except Sunday
Volunteer Capacity: 15
Description: Three different projects: First is updating the men’s Gideon House campus through projects such as soffit, fasciae repairs and painting the interior walls in the men’s rooms. The women’s Bethel House campus grounds need beautification and exterior cleaning, and two of the cottages need to be painted. Last option is to provide lunch, conversation, and comfort for the women any day except Sunday.

Prison Ministry – Transformation Weekend
Date: 10/18 – 10/19
Volunteer Capacity: 30
Description: Teams will assist Steve Ballard and his connect group as they minister to this community in Henderson with a conference called “Transformation Weekend”. We will prepare and serve 6 meals throughout the conference, have a guest speaker and breakout discussions, and will share the Gospel.

School Outreach at Peet Elementary School
Date: 10/31 from 6 – 8 PM
Volunteer Capacity: 20
Description: Help host a block party for students! Volunteers will be asked to oversee bounce houses, organize group games, and pass out candy.

St. Paul’s - Espanol exclusive
Date: 10/27, 10/28, 10/29, 10/30 (food pantry), 10/31
Volunteer Capacity: Paint – 8, Food Pantry – 6, Prayer – 6
Description: Help clean & paint the interior of small building across the street from their office so it can be used for small groups, Bible studies, & local neighborhood ministry. Volunteers are also needed to serve with the food pantry (Thursday only, 12:45-3pm). Help serve & pray for families – 5-6 people.
