Howdy, Green Acres!

Summer is here! The Lee home is ready, and I suspect your children and grandchildren are as well. As we step into these summer months, I would love for you to join my family in reflecting on and memorizing this Bible verse:

“Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children, and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us.”
-Ephesians 5:1–2

This is our VBS memory verse this year, and what a powerful reminder it is for all of us.

Young children naturally imitate the behavior they see displayed by the adults in their lives. We can all see glimpses of ourselves, our attitudes, expressions, and mannerisms reflected in our children and grandchildren.

In the same way, Paul reminds us that, as God’s children, we are called to imitate our Heavenly Father and walk in love as His dearly loved children. Jesus showed us exactly what that kind of love looks like when He gave Himself for us on the cross. His love was not shallow or temporary, but self-sacrificial, unconditional, and always for the good of others.

To become imitators of our Father, we must spend time with Him, studying His Word, seeking His heart, and learning to follow His example more closely each day. And when we begin to truly walk with Him, His love naturally begins to fill us and overflow into the lives of those around us.

As summer schedules shift and our routines and pace begin to look different, our calling remains the same: to reflect Jesus in the way we live, speak, serve, and love others.

One of the greatest ways we can imitate Christ is by intentionally investing in the next generation. Every conversation, every prayer, every volunteer hour, every act of kindness, and every moment spent pointing a child toward Jesus matters more than we may ever realize.

As a church family, we have the privilege and responsibility of helping the next generation know and follow Jesus. As we head into an exciting summer in Kids Ministry, here are a few ways you can be praying:

  1. Life Change
Pray that children and families would come to know Jesus and grow deeper in their faith.
  2. New Families
Pray that new families would feel welcomed, connected, and encouraged at Green Acres.
  3. Volunteers Serving in Kids Ministry
Pray for strength, joy, wisdom, and encouragement for the many leaders serving children this summer.
  4. Additional Kids Ministry Volunteers
Pray that God would provide additional volunteers as we continue making room for every child and family the Lord brings to Green Acres. Ask the Lord to provide willing hearts, joyful servants, and more people who are passionate about helping the next generation know and follow Jesus.

Kids Ministry

It is a joy for Kids Ministry to serve families and partner with parents as we point children to Jesus together. If you, or someone you know, would like to be a Kids Ministry Volunteer, please email: marym@gabc.org.

Let’s be ALL IN this summer as we point people to the truth of Jesus that transforms lives while we connect, grow, and multiply together!

Looking forward to Sunday!
