The Revolutionary Address | Monday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He began with a word that would have shocked every Jewish listener: “Father.” This wasn’t casual or disrespectful – it was revolutionary. In a culture where God was so holy that His name couldn’t even be spoken, Jesus invited us into an intimate relationship. This single word changes everything about how we approach prayer. We’re not coming to a distant deity or an impersonal force. We’re coming to our Father – One who loves us deeply yet deserves our complete reverence. This balance of intimacy and awe transforms prayer from religious duty into relational reality. When you understand that the Creator of the universe welcomes you as His beloved child, prayer becomes less about perfect words and more about authentic connection. You belong at His throne of grace.

Bible Verse
“And he said to them, ‘When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.'” – Luke 11:2

Reflection Question
How does knowing God as your Father change the way you approach Him in prayer?

Quote
It is a term of belonging. It is a term that you and I in Christ Jesus are welcomed at the throne of grace.

Prayer
Father, thank You for welcoming me as Your child. Help me approach You with both intimacy and reverence today.
