Seeing the Harvest | Wednesday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
When you look at your community, what do you see? Traffic jams and busy schedules? Political divisions and social problems? Or do you see what Jesus sees—a harvest field ready for workers?

Jesus had a unique way of looking at people. Where others saw crowds, He saw individuals desperate for hope. Where others saw sinners, He saw potential disciples. Where others saw problems, He saw opportunities for God’s kingdom to advance. This gospel-centered vision is what transforms ordinary believers into effective kingdom workers.

The truth is, people around us are starving for what we have. They’re searching for meaning, struggling with guilt, battling loneliness, and wrestling with questions about life and death. Meanwhile, we have the bread of life, the answer to their deepest needs, the hope they’ve been searching for. Yet somehow, we’ve convinced ourselves that sharing this good news is someone else’s job.

God wants to give you His eyes to see your neighborhood, your workplace, your family gatherings differently. That difficult coworker isn’t just an annoyance—they’re someone Jesus died for. That neighbor who never waves back isn’t just unfriendly—they might be carrying burdens you can’t imagine. When we begin to see people through God’s eyes of love and compassion, everything changes.

The harvest truly is ready. The question isn’t whether people need Jesus—they desperately do. The question is whether we’ll open our eyes to see the opportunities God has placed right in front of us.

Bible Verse
‘The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.’ – Psalm 23:1
