Childlike Faith and True Revelation | Wednesday
Devotional
Jesus celebrated when His disciples returned from their successful ministry, but He redirected their joy toward something more significant. He praised the Father for revealing kingdom truths to those with childlike hearts while hiding them from the supposedly wise and learned. This reveals something profound about how God works.
Childlike faith isn’t about being naive or simple-minded. It’s about approaching God with humility, wonder, and complete dependence. Children don’t pretend to have all the answers; they trust those who love them. They’re quick to believe, slow to doubt, and unashamed of their need for help.
The religious leaders of Jesus’ day had extensive knowledge but lacked this childlike posture. Their pride and self-sufficiency blinded them to spiritual realities that children could easily grasp. True revelation comes not through intellectual achievement but through humble surrender.
When we approach God with childlike faith, we position ourselves to receive His truth and experience His joy. We stop trying to figure everything out and start trusting the One who has already worked everything out for our good.
Bible Verse
‘At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.”‘ – Luke 10:21
Reflection Question
In what ways might pride or self-sufficiency be hindering your ability to receive God’s truth with childlike faith?
Quote
Real joy is actually a mirror in a window to your heart. You can tell what is going on in somebody’s heart just by their faith and the way they carry themselves.
Prayer
Lord, give me a childlike heart that trusts You completely. Help me approach You with humility and wonder rather than pride or self-reliance.
