The Power of His Name | Monday
Lanny Bridges

Devotional
Have you ever introduced yourself and watched someone’s face light up with recognition? Names carry weight, don’t they? They connect us to family, heritage, and identity. But there’s one name that stands above every other name ever spoken – Jesus.

When we truly understand the power contained in that beautiful name, everything else fades into the background. It’s not just a historical figure or a religious symbol we’re talking about. This is the name that demons flee from, the name that brings healing, the name that offers forgiveness, and the name that guarantees eternal life.

Think about the moments in your life when you’ve called out to Jesus – maybe in desperation, maybe in gratitude, maybe in quiet worship. Something happens when we speak his name with genuine faith, doesn’t it? There’s power there that the world simply cannot understand or replicate.

The beautiful truth is that this same Jesus who walked the dusty roads of Galilee wants a personal relationship with you. Not a distant, formal relationship, but an intimate friendship where you can share your deepest thoughts, fears, and dreams. He’s not looking for perfect people – he’s looking for people who recognize their need for him.

As we begin this journey together over the next few days, let’s remember that everything we’ll discover points back to this one central truth: Jesus is enough. His name is enough. His love is enough. His sacrifice is enough. When we have Jesus, we have everything we need.

Bible Verse
‘Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.’ -Philippians 2:9

Reflection Question
What does the name of Jesus mean to you personally, and how has calling on his name made a difference in your life?

Quote
Apart from that wonderful and beautiful and powerful name of Jesus, I have nothing worth telling you today.

Prayer
Jesus, thank you that your name carries such power and love. Help me to never take for granted the privilege of knowing you personally. May your name be the first one I call upon in times of need and the one I praise in times of joy. Amen.
