The Desire That Changes Everything | Monday

Devotional
Have you ever noticed how our culture promises that the next achievement, purchase, or relationship will finally satisfy us? Yet deep down, we all sense that something is missing. We chase after success, comfort, and recognition, but find ourselves still empty. This restlessness isn’t a flaw in our design—it’s actually pointing us toward something greater.

Jesus offers something radically different from the world’s empty promises. He doesn’t offer to add to our collection of achievements or make our current life better. Instead, He calls us to desire Him above everything else. This isn’t about wanting what Jesus can give us—health, prosperity, or happiness. It’s about wanting Jesus Himself.

This kind of desire is supernatural. It’s not something we can manufacture through willpower or religious activity. When God’s Spirit begins to work in our hearts, He creates a longing for Christ that surpasses every other desire. This settled longing becomes the foundation of authentic faith.

The beautiful truth is that when we desire Christ above all else, we discover what our hearts were truly made for. Every other pursuit leaves us wanting more, but Christ satisfies completely. He doesn’t just meet our needs—He becomes our greatest treasure.

Bible Verse
‘No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.’ – John 6:44

Reflection Question
What desires in your life are competing with your desire for Christ, and how might God be calling you to reorder your priorities?

Quote
From the beginning we must desire Christ and nothing else.

Prayer
Father, create in me a desire for Christ that surpasses every other longing in my heart. Help me to see that You alone can satisfy the deepest needs of my soul. Draw me to Jesus and make Him my greatest treasure.
