The Question That Changes Everything | Monday

Devotional
Have you ever noticed how some questions can keep you awake at night? Questions about relationships, career choices, or your future can feel overwhelming. But there’s one question that stands above all others – a question that Jesus himself asked his disciples: “Who do you say that I am?” This isn’t just another theological debate or intellectual exercise. This question cuts straight to the heart of who we are and where we stand spiritually. Unlike complex philosophical discussions that only scholars can navigate, this question is deeply personal and accessible to everyone. It doesn’t require advanced degrees or years of study – it requires honesty about what we truly believe about Jesus. The weight of this question is profound because how we answer it determines our eternal destiny. It’s not about having the right religious knowledge or saying the correct words; it’s about the genuine condition of our hearts. When Jesus asked this question, he wasn’t looking for a textbook answer. He was inviting his disciples into a moment of truth that would define their entire lives. Today, this same question stands before each of us, waiting for our response.

Bible Verse
“Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, ‘Who do the crowds say I am?’ They replied, ‘Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.’ ‘But what about you?’ he asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’ Peter answered, ‘God’s Messiah.'” – Luke 9:18-20

Reflection Question
When you strip away what others have told you about Jesus, what does your heart truly believe about who He is?

Quote
It is the one question that actually matters in life. It is the question that. That is above all other questions.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me to honestly examine my heart and see You for who You truly are. Give me the courage to move beyond secondhand opinions and encounter You personally. Prepare my heart for the days ahead as I seek to know You more deeply. Amen.
