Your Story, God’s Glory | Thursday
Devotional
What if the most powerful evangelistic tool you possess isn’t a theological argument or a perfectly memorized presentation, but simply your story? The transformed man in Luke 8 didn’t have seminary training or years of Bible study. He had something far more compelling: a personal testimony of what Jesus had done in his life.
When Jesus told him to go home and tell others what God had done, He wasn’t asking for a complex theological explanation. He was asking for authenticity—a simple, honest account of transformation. This man’s story was undeniable because people had seen his before and after. They knew the darkness he’d lived in, and now they could see the light.
Your story might not be as dramatic as being delivered from thousands of demons, but it’s no less powerful. Maybe Jesus rescued you from addiction, healed your marriage, gave you peace in anxiety, or simply filled the emptiness you’d carried for years. Whatever your story, it’s uniquely yours, and no one can argue with what God has done in your life.
The beauty of personal testimony is its simplicity. You don’t need to have all the answers to life’s biggest questions. You don’t need to win every theological debate. You just need to be willing to share how Jesus has changed you. When you speak from the heart about God’s goodness in your life, people listen.
Every circumstance you face—both good and difficult—becomes part of your testimony. Your struggles with finances, health challenges, relationship difficulties, career setbacks—Jesus uses all of it for His glory and your good. These experiences don’t disqualify you from ministry; they equip you for it.
People need to hear that God is real, present, and active in ordinary lives. Your story provides that evidence.
Bible Verse
“‘Return home and tell how much God has done for you.’ So the man went away and told all over town
how much Jesus had done for him.” – Luke 8:39
Reflection Question
What specific ways has God worked in your life that you could share with someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and who in your life needs to hear your story?
Quote
Go back to your home and tell all that God has done for you. This really is the simplicity of the gospel.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for the story You’ve written in my life. Help me see how You’ve used both my victories and struggles for Your glory. Give me opportunities to share my testimony and the courage to be vulnerable about Your goodness in my life.
