The Greatest Storm Already Calmed | Friday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
While the storm on the lake was terrifying, it wasn’t the most dangerous storm the disciples would ever face. The greatest storm that threatened humanity was the wrath of God toward our sin – and Jesus has already calmed that one too. On the cross, He redirected God’s righteous anger away from us and onto Himself, bringing perfect peace between God and humanity.

This puts every other storm in perspective. If Jesus could calm the ultimate storm of divine judgment, surely He can handle whatever we’re facing today. The same power that conquered sin and death is available to us in our daily struggles. The same love that led Him to the cross continues to sustain us through every trial.

Just as the disciples discovered Jesus was greater than anything they would face, we need to remember that our circumstances – no matter how overwhelming – are never greater than our Savior. The question isn’t whether Jesus can handle our situation; the question is whether our faith in Him outweighs our current circumstances.

God has saved you from something, but He’s also saved you for something. Maybe He’s calling you across the office to encourage a coworker, across the street to serve a neighbor, or even around the world to share His love. The same Jesus who calmed the storm and conquered sin is asking you a simple question: “Will you say yes?”

Your obedience today could be the beginning of witnessing His power in ways you never imagined.

Bible Verse
“Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” – Romans 5:9

Reflection Question
Knowing that Jesus has already calmed the greatest storm of God’s wrath toward your sin, how does this change your perspective on the current challenges you’re facing?

Quote
Jesus has calmed the greatest storm. And that storm is the wrath of God toward our sin.

Prayer
Thank You, Jesus, for calming the greatest storm by taking God’s wrath upon Yourself. Help me to live with confidence knowing that if You conquered sin and death, You can certainly handle every challenge I face. Show me where You’re calling me to say yes today. Amen.
