The Coal That Changes Everything | Thursday

Devotional

Just when Isaiah thought he was finished, grace intervened. A seraph took a burning coal from the altar and touched his lips, declaring his guilt taken away and his sin atoned for. This wasn’t just symbolic – it was transformational. The very thing that made Isaiah feel hopeless became the place where hope was born. The altar represents God’s provision for our sin problem. We can’t fix what our rebellion has broken, but God can and did through the sacrifice of His Son. The coal from the altar points to the cross, where Jesus paid the price for our sins. This is the gospel in action – simultaneously bad news and good news. The bad news is that we’re all sinners who fall short of God’s glory. The good news is that God provided a way for our guilt to be removed and our relationship with Him to be restored. Grace is free, but it came at great cost to God. When you truly understand what Jesus did for you on the cross, it changes everything. Your guilt is gone, your relationship with God is restored, and you have a new purpose in life.

Bible Verse
‘In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.’ – Isaiah 6:1

Reflection Question
How does knowing that your guilt has been completely removed through Christ’s sacrifice change the way you see yourself and your relationship with God?

Quote
The good news is God sent his son, Jesus, who lived a righteous life, died at the cross to pay for our sins, and rose from the dead for our justification.

Prayer
Thank You, Jesus, for taking the coal from the altar and touching my life with Your grace. Help me to live in the freedom of knowing my guilt is gone and my relationship with You is secure. Amen.
