Seen in the Crowd | Wednesday
Devotional
In the midst of the crowd pressing around Jesus, one woman believed that simply touching the edge of His garment would heal her. She had suffered for twelve years, spending everything on doctors who couldn’t help her. But in one moment of desperate faith, she reached out and was instantly healed.
What’s beautiful about this story is that Jesus didn’t let her disappear into the crowd. He could have kept walking, allowing her to slip away with her healing. Instead, He stopped everything and called her forward. Why? Because He wanted her to know that she wasn’t just another face in the crowd – she was seen, known, and loved.
Sometimes we feel invisible, especially in our pain and struggle. We wonder if God notices our quiet desperation, our secret battles, our whispered prayers. This woman’s story reminds us that Jesus sees every act of faith, no matter how small or hidden it might seem to others.
When Jesus called her ‘Daughter,’ He wasn’t just acknowledging her healing – He was welcoming her into His family. She came seeking physical healing but received so much more: spiritual restoration, public acknowledgment, and a place in God’s family. You are not invisible to Jesus. Your faith, however small it feels, is seen and celebrated by Him.
Bible Verse
‘And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.’ – Luke 8:43-44
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life do you feel unseen or forgotten, and how might Jesus be inviting you to reach out to Him with the same desperate faith as this woman?
Quote
I don’t know where you are today, but I want you to know that you’re seen by Jesus. You’re seen by him. He wants to know you. You’re not an interruption for him. You’re not a burden.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that I am never invisible to You. Help me to reach out in faith, knowing that You see every struggle and celebrate every step of faith I take toward You. Amen.
