Light Cannot Be Hidden | Wednesday
Dr. Michael Gossett

Devotional
Have you ever tried to hide a flashlight under a blanket? The light still seeps through. It’s nearly impossible to completely conceal light because light, by its very nature, shines. The same is true for those who have genuinely received the gospel—the transformation cannot be hidden.

Jesus makes it clear: there is no such thing as a hidden follower of Jesus. When the light of the gospel truly enters someone’s life, it will be revealed through a visible, obedient, kingdom-shaped life. This isn’t about putting on a performance or trying to appear spiritual. It’s about the natural overflow of a heart that has been transformed by grace.

You know those people who just seem to “ooze Jesus”? They’re not trying to be noticed—they simply can’t help but reflect the light that has changed them from the inside out. Their kindness, their peace in difficult situations, their genuine love for others, their integrity—these things shine naturally because of who they’ve become in Christ.

This should encourage us, not pressure us. If you’ve truly received the gospel, the light will shine through you. You don’t have to manufacture it or fake it. The question isn’t whether you can hide it—you can’t. The question is whether you’ll position yourself where that light can have maximum impact.

Today, don’t worry about trying to shine brighter. Instead, focus on staying close to Jesus, the source of all light. As you do, His light will naturally shine through you in ways that point others to Him.

Bible Verse
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” – James 1:22

Reflection Question
In what ways has the gospel naturally begun to shine through your life, and how can you position yourself for greater kingdom impact?

Quote
There is no such thing as a hidden follower of Jesus.

Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your light in me cannot be hidden. Help me not to try to manufacture spiritual fruit,
but to stay close to You so that Your light shines naturally through my life. Use me to point others to You.
Amen.
