Standing Firm in the Storm | Friday
Devotional
Storms are inevitable. Jesus doesn’t promise His followers a life free from difficulties, challenges, or pain. Instead, He promises something far better: a foundation that will hold firm when the storms come.
The difference between the wise and foolish builders in Jesus’ parable wasn’t that one faced storms while the other didn’t. Both houses were hit by the same rain, floods, and winds. The difference was in how they withstood those storms.
“The rains will come, the floods will rise, the winds will beat up against it. The big bad wolf is coming. But guess what? He will not blow down the house that is firm in the foundation of Christ Jesus himself.”
This is the confidence we can have when our lives are built on Christ. Not that we’ll escape difficulty, but that we’ll remain standing through it. Not that we won’t feel the force of the storm, but that we won’t be destroyed by it.
And we don’t face these storms alone. We stand together as the body of Christ, supporting one another, encouraging one another, and helping each other remain anchored to our shared foundation.
Today, whatever storm you might be facing—or whatever calm you’re currently enjoying—remember that your security isn’t found in perfect circumstances but in a perfect Savior who holds you fast through every season of life.
Bible Verse
“He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river crashed against that house and couldn’t shake it, because it was well built.” – Luke 6:48
Reflection Question
What current or past storm in your life has tested your foundation, and how has God shown Himself faithful through it?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my unshakable foundation in every storm of life. When the winds blow and the floods rise, help me to remember that I am anchored in Christ. Thank You for the community of believers You’ve placed around me to help me stand firm. Give me the courage to face whatever comes my way, knowing that nothing can separate me from Your love. And help me to be a source of strength and encouragement to others facing their own storms. In Jesus’ name, amen.
