Beyond Knowledge to Trust | Thursday
Devotional
There’s a crucial difference between knowing about Jesus and truly trusting Him. Many people have knowledge about Christ—they can recite facts about His life, quote His teachings, and even express gratitude for what He’s done. But they keep Him at a safe distance, never fully entrusting themselves to Him.
It’s like knowing a chair can hold your weight but never actually sitting in it. You might intellectually agree that the chair is sturdy, but until you rest your full weight on it, you haven’t truly trusted it.
True faith moves beyond intellectual agreement to complete reliance. It’s not enough to know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life—we must entrust our entire lives to Him. Faith isn’t faith until it fully rests in its object.
This kind of trust doesn’t come naturally to us. We prefer to maintain control, to keep one foot on the ground just in case. But Jesus calls us to full surrender, to place the entire weight of our lives, our futures, and our salvation in His hands.
Bible Verse
“The righteous will live by his faith.” – Habakkuk 2:4
Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you still holding back from fully trusting Jesus? What would it look like to move from intellectual agreement to complete reliance in those areas?
Quote
Knowledge is the beginning of true faith. I know that this chair will hold me. Many times we even agree that Jesus is the only way.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I confess that I often keep Jesus at a safe distance. I know many things about Him, but I struggle to fully trust Him with every aspect of my life. Help me to move beyond mere knowledge to complete reliance. Show me the areas where I’m still trying to maintain control, and give me the courage to surrender them fully to You. Thank You that You are completely trustworthy. In Jesus’ name, amen.
