Choosing Your Guides | Thursday
Devotional
Jesus asks a pointed question in Luke 6:39: “Can the blind lead the blind?” The answer is obvious—they’ll both fall into a pit. Yet how often do we allow ourselves to be guided by those who are spiritually blind?
The voices we listen to shape our perspective, our values, and ultimately our character. In a world saturated with opinions, philosophies, and worldviews, we must be intentional about who we allow to influence us. As Paul reminds us, “Bad company corrupts good character.”
This doesn’t mean isolating ourselves from those who think differently. Jesus Himself engaged with people from all walks of life. But it does mean being discerning about who we look to for spiritual guidance and accountability.
We need friends who are pursuing Christ, who will speak truth when we stray, who will encourage us toward godliness rather than complacency. Without such influences, we risk wandering blindly, unaware of the pitfalls ahead.
Today, consider who’s guiding your spiritual journey. Are they leading you toward Christ or away from Him? The direction of your life may depend on your answer.
Bible Verse
“Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.'” – 1 Corinthians 15:33
Reflection Question
Who are the primary voices influencing your spiritual life right now? Are they helping you see more clearly or potentially leading you toward a pit? What changes might you need to make in your circle of influence?
Quote
We need godly friends who are pursuing the same thing. We need godly friends who are gonna hold us accountable instead of just letting us walk alongside somebody else that is blind and all of us fall into a pit together.
Prayer
Lord, grant me wisdom to discern the voices I should heed and those I should tune out. Bring godly friends into my life who will hold me accountable and point me toward You. Help me to be that kind of friend to others as well. Thank You for Your Word that guides me in truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
