Living with Eternal Vision | Thursday
Devotional
It’s so easy to get caught up in the immediate—today’s problems, this week’s schedule, this year’s goals. Our vision naturally focuses on what’s right in front of us. But God invites us to lift our eyes and see with eternal perspective. When Paul wrote that he considered everything a loss compared to knowing Christ, he wasn’t diminishing the importance of his work, relationships, or responsibilities. He was putting them in proper perspective. He understood that Christ Himself—not just the blessings Christ gives—is our ultimate reward. Living with eternal vision doesn’t mean we ignore the present; it means we interpret the present in light of eternity. It means recognizing that our current struggles are producing an eternal weight of glory. It means understanding that our work matters not just for temporal results but for eternal impact. This perspective keeps us from drifting toward short-sighted decisions and self-centered living.
Bible Verse
“What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death” – Philippians 3:8-10
Reflection Question
If you truly believed that Christ Himself is your ultimate reward, how might that change your priorities and decisions today?
Quote
How can he say, to live is Christ and die is gain, because he has an eternal view of Christ himself. What more in life could you ever need?
Prayer
Father, help me see beyond the temporary to what truly matters eternally. Shift my perspective from earthly values to heavenly ones. May knowing Christ become my highest aim and greatest treasure. Align my heart with Your eternal purposes. Amen.
