About the Institute
The Green Acres Institute exists to put into practice the words of Paul in Ephesians 4:12. He writes that the church is to "equip the saints for the work of the ministry." With these words in mind, Green Acres has partnered with East Texas Baptist University to offer undergraduate Christian ministry classes that are designed to shape the follower of Jesus so that they can minister effectively. Each class allows for the student to gain one credit hour over the course of five weeks that can be accredited toward an undergraduate degree or Christian Ministry Certificate. The sequence of classes is prepared in a way that a student can start at any five week interval. The certificate is awarded upon the completion of eighteen credit hours. Classes meet one night per week for up to three hours each occurrence.
About the Residency
The Green Acres Residency Program exists to provide students who have an assurance of God’s calling on their lives, practical church ministry experience and leadership training under the supervision and mentorship of the pastors, staff and members of Green Acres Baptist Church with the goal of launching them into an existing church or helping them to plant new churches.
Since the dawn of the church era and the Apostle Paul’s diligent efforts to spread the Gospel by establishing churches throughout the known world, the Christian Church has found its driving energy in Paul’s admonition “…and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2). The Green Acres Baptist Church Residency Program desires to continue in these instructions.
With the knowledge that God has chosen to spread the Gospel around the world through the vehicle of the local church, it is our goal to help those preparing for church ministry by challenging them to engage in valuable ministry training through the Green Acres Baptist Church Residency Program.
Residents function in a unique ministry role at Green Acres Baptist Church. As you serve, this church will train, teach, and transfer the ministry philosophy of Green Acres Baptist Church to you so that you may skillfully and more readily fulfill your calling. This local body of Christ desires to continue the legacy of the ministry of Green Acres Baptist Church through the residents who are trained and equipped for the ministry.
