A Note from John Roach

GABC family! I am so encouraged and excited to update you on all that’s been going on in our Missions Ministry lately.  Recently, our team has had the opportunity to visit several of our international partners around the world. In September we visited David Tamez, the director of Lacy Seminary in Oaxaca, Mexico.  Lacy Seminary is working hard to train church planters and missionaries to send out to the villages of Mexico where there is no gospel presence. In October we met with David Whitehead and his new church plant called Connections Church in Oahu, Hawaii, where we helped host a block party for nearly 400 people and joined Connections for Sunday morning worship. Today we are wrapping up a trip in Edinburgh, Scotland visiting Jason Nelson with Niddrie Community Church.  Niddrie has an amazing church planting ministry called 20 Schemes that is planting churches in the impoverished neighborhoods (called schemes) in their community. From Scotland, we are flying to Central Asia to spend time with one of our long-standing partners doing incredible ministry in a hostile part of the world.  While there, we’ll have an opportunity to encourage pastors and local believers, preach and host a pastor training conference.

These opportunities are fantastic, but we are only getting started!  Just a few weeks ago, our Missions Ministry also had the chance to send one of our Connect Groups on mission to partner with Pastor Tracy Sullens and his church in Bucksport, Maine. Maine is less than 4% evangelical, and there is a tremendous need for the gospel there.  This was such a special opportunity for the Holt Connect Group to come alongside The Bridge Church and help them host a coat drive and engage people in a primarily lost culture—and we’ll prayerfully help them plant another church in a neighboring community! We want to continue partnering our Connect Groups with our church planters, pastors, and missionaries around the world. Our Missions team would love to help your group go and serve alongside these pastors and missionaries as they work to share the transforming truth of Jesus.

Lastly, our Connect Groups just hosted twenty-one block parties in and around Tyler. Hundreds of people gave their time, resources, homes, candy, and so much more in hopes of engaging friends and neighbors. So many opportunities were created to begin conversations about Jesus and invite others to come learn more about the gospel at Green Acres. It’s amazing how God can take something as simple as a front yard, some candy, and His people and use these things together to create points of contact that will turn into God stories of transformation.

All I know to say is PRAISE GOD and THANK YOU! Thank you for being faithful to use your time, talents, and treasure to engage the lost in East Texas, across the country, and around the world. Thank you for taking Mark 16:15 seriously, where Jesus says, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
