Hey Church!

A couple of months ago, I was walking toward the Connections Café with a longtime GABC church member. We talked casually, but he must have noticed I wasn’t myself, so he asked if anything was wrong. While normally, I would do what most of us would and reply, “No, nothing, all good,” this time, for some reason, I responded with what was really on my mind.

“To be honest,” I said, “I’m concerned with the church’s budget. Things are going so well with growth in attendance, Connect Groups, Flint re-launch, baptisms, etc… but our giving is flat.”

He stopped our walk turned to me and said thoughtfully, “If you tell them what you need, Green Acres people always come through!”

I loved his optimism… even if I didn’t yet share it.

Over the last several weeks, Pastor Michael has challenged us to be “Anchored” in our faith and to go deeper in our serving, giving, and engagement. Last Sunday was a budget catch-up day we called “Going Beyond” and Church… you certainly did!

As of the time of this article, you gave more than $226,000 over the normal weekly budgeted amount! That dropped the budget deficit by 25%…. in one Sunday! THANK YOU for your incredible generosity and for your faithful giving to GABC ministries!

Of course, we still have some work to close the gap, but it turns out my “walking buddy” was right… Green Acres people come through!

Moving into the last several weeks of the year, please continue to pray about what role God would have you play in helping GABC meet our budgeted needs!   2 Corinthians 9:7 “…God loves a cheerful giver.”
