Dear Church Family,

I want to give a quick Ministerial Staff update

GABC is blessed with an amazing staff full of men and women who love the Lord! To more fully align our staff members’ passions and competencies, we have shuffled several positions that we believe will help us better achieve our Connect, Grow, Multiply strategy.

Walter Ballou, who has served so faithfully for 19+ years in our Student Ministry, expressed a desire to help launch and lead a new Green Acres Men’s Ministry and serve as the Minister to Singles. He is a gifted leader who has poured his life into our church and is excited about the next chapter in his ministry here.

Jason Humphrey, who, like Walter, has served faithfully in our Student Ministry, has always been involved in Missions.  Jason’s heart for Missions has grown to the point that he feels led to step out in faith and serve as the Green Acres Missions Ministry Associate.  Both Walter and Jason will join their respective new ministries immediately but will also continue to serve in Student Ministry throughout the summer to ensure a smooth transition for students and the new Student Pastor.

Jeremy Jones has been asked to serve as our Minister of Church Development. Among other special projects, he will lead the implementation and development of both the Green Acres Residency Program (which gives practical church-related experience to men and women who are “called to ministry”) and the Green Acres Institute (which will offer accredited certificate, undergraduate and graduate level courses through an East Texas Baptist University Partnership. Classes are planned to begin meeting on the GABC Campus in January 2023). He begins his new assignment shortly after Todd Haymans, our new Discipleship Pastor, arrives on June 19th.

Jennifer Grigsby, who has served as the Green Acres Kids Minister for several years, is retiring, and her last day is this Sunday, June 12th! While Jennifer will stay at GABC as a member, she is stepping down from the day-to-day operations of the Kids Ministry.  She graciously decided to serve and lead the Kids team until after VBS to make sure it went off well…. and did it ever! She also wants to be part of helping the new Kids Minister get settled in when they arrive. What a gift Jennifer has been to GABC!

Over the next several months, Selection Committees, which are being formed now, will be focused on helping Pastor Michael interview and vet four key staff positions: a Worship Pastor, College and Young Singles Minister, Student Minister, and Kids Minister.

Please be in prayer as we look to fill these roles with God’s person!

Your friend,
