If you are an adult looking to make a difference; if you have a passion for an idea you would like to see become a reality; or, if you would like to be a part of a truly “cutting edge” adventure in ministry—the Ministry of Adult Impact may be just the challenge you’ve been looking for.
The Adult Impact Ministries (AIM), which began in 2007, is a multi-faceted ministry designed to encourage and enable adults of all ages to make an Impact for Christ in their world. This is not a standalone ministry; it is a vital partner with every GABC ministry, identifying opportunities and equipping adults to get involved.
Adult Impact is located on the second floor of the Lighthouse in the Administrative Suite
Do you see a need or have an idea for a new ministry?
AIM is an entrepreneurial ministry–assisting adults as they turn their passion and vision into tangible opportunities for action. We are here to help you explore how to get started and to “make it happen.”
One focus is on one of the most dynamic, rapidly-growing groups at Green Acres—the Baby Boomer Generation. This is a group characterized by a high degree of activity, mobility and a desire to make a difference. AIM provides opportunities for this group to get involved in ministry and missions within the church, community and the world. Another aspect of this ministry is Life-Stage support for issues significant to this segment of our church.
What are my Passions and Spiritual Gifts?
We have discovered one reason people become frustrated with their ministry or their volunteer service is because they are involved in areas of service for which they were not gifted. Once people discover their spiritual gifts they can serve with a great sense of joy and satisfaction.
A common question that is asked is “How do I discover my gifts or passions?” The first step is to complete a spiritual gifts inventory. It will show you your God-given strengths, and typically reveal what your gifts are and the things for which you have a passion. You can get started here with your free Spiritual Gifts Analysis. Once you discover your God-given spiritual gifts then the Adult Impact Ministry can come along side you and help you discover ways you can successfully put those gifts to work for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
Hope for 100
Adoption, Foster Care and Orphan Care Ministry
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
— James 1:27 (NIV)
Hope for 100 was begun in 2009 as a way to challenge the members of GABC to make a difference in the lives of children. The original challenge was to provide a loving, Christian homes to 100 children through adoption and foster care. Within two years that goal was achieved. But the church showed no sign of slowing down. In 2014, the pastor again challenged GABC to provide for an additional 100 children by expanding it’s scope beyond through adoption and foster care. Hope for 100 is now looking to provide support through mentoring and sponsorship of a child through a supporting organization.

Widows in Need (WIN)
Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.
— 1 Timothy 5:3 (NIV)
The WIN Ministry is here to serve GABC Widows, Widowers and Single Senior Ladies with the non-emergency “honey-do” projects around the house. The WIN ministry also helps with things like technical assistance, transportation to medical procedures, plus many other services. The labor is FREE; you will only be responsible for the cost of parts or materials.
The work is performed by qualified volunteers who are members of GABC. For security purposes, all volunteers have completed a background check.
WIN also offers a “Car Care Day” each May and November. The leaders of the Car Care Day offer basic check-ups on the car to make sure they are in good working order. They also provide information on more serious needs that need a follow up visit to the mechanic.
WIN also provides support, encouragement and services for ladies as they begin the journey into widowhood.
In addition, WIN holds special events throughout the year to celebrate. Some of these events include: Valentine’s Day, Spring Banquet, Volunteer Recognition Banquets and Ice-Cream Socials.

Partners in Community Service
Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.
— Ephesians 6:7 (NIV)
Partners in Community Service (PiCS) are community service organizations, nonprofit organizations and local ministries with whom GABC has partnered in order to give our members the opportunity to put “hands and feet” to their faith. Each of these organizations have opportunities for serving that are flexible, perfect for individuals, families or groups. These organizations also meet vital needs of people in the East Texas area.
As you look over our list of partners, please pray that you would find your place to make a difference in your community as well as for eternity. For more information, contact us at 903-525-1186 or Adultimpact@mail.gabc.org.

Be strong! Take Courage! … we have our God to help us and fight for us!
— 2 Chronicles 32:7 (The Message)
The GABC Military Ministry in conjunction with the mission statement of the church, exists to be a beacon of God’s light, love and hope to the men and women of the US Armed Forces and their families. It is our desire to minister through encouragement, prayer, pre- and post-deployment support, and to introduce ministry opportunities available at GABC.
Each summer, the Military Ministry is part of GABC’s “I Love America” presentation. They also help support other local ministries and organizations that support members of our military. Some of these opportunities include job placement seminars, military job fairs, and veteran’s recognitions. In addition, they support Campus Crusade’s “Rapid Deployment Kits” program which offers Bibles, devotional books and gospel tracks to the military.
The GABC Military Ministry is a proud annual supporter of the local Wounded Warrior Project.
For more information on how you can serve on the Military Ministry Leadership Team, contact the AIM office.
Foundations of Faith
I applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all this is done under the heavens.
— Ecclesiastes 1:13a (NIV)
Foundations of Faith is a study program that offers studies of specific events, times and places that are important in Christian history. Some of the studies are events that took place around the globe while others are based on events closer to home. Some of the past studies have included America’s Spiritual Heritage, Christianity Behind the Iron Curtian, English Christian Personalities and The Dead Sea Scrolls. Others were The History of the Christian Bible, The Beginnings of Christianity in Texas and The Missions of Texas.
Usually, as part of the study, an optional travel opportunity is offered to enhance the learning. A few places where Foundations of Faith has traveled is Washington DC, Eastern Europe, England, Boston, Gettysburg and Philadelphia. The “closer to home” opportunities included stops in Austin, Palestine, Fort Worth, Oklahoma City and Natchez, MS.
